Using Pinterest For Inspiration, Nicole Is All Set To Be A Successful Affiliate Marketer

Nicole is a 21-year-old affiliate marketer who is currently waiting for her graduation in Diploma in Mass communications. Upon discovering affiliate marketing and the fact that one can earn side income through affiliate marketing by sharing links in social media, Nicole quickly started her very own journey in the world of affiliate marketing with ACCESSTRADE Malaysia. 

She joined affiliate marketing in 2020 with around 5K followers on her IG handle. Around 5-10% of followers use her affiliate links to purchase products online which gives her enough income. Without any hard sell, Nicole can earn around RM60 a month just by asking her friends to use her affiliate links when they purchase from SHOPPE, LAZADA, or other e-commerce platforms available on ACCESSTRADE Malaysia.

Nicole’s early days as an affiliate marketer 

Why did you start affiliate marketing?

This is a good way to earn a side income. I don’t have to sell any products. By providing the affiliate link, I could easily earn the money. 

Can you share a little bit about how you got started with affiliate marketing and when you started?

I started in 2020 when an influencer agency introduced it to me. I am very grateful that I started this earlier as this is a good platform for students like me who want to earn some side income.

What was interesting about affiliate marketing?

One interesting about affiliate marketing is that I don’t have to sell any products to my friends. I just need to attach the link to my social media account and send it to my friends. Then, I can easily earn the money. 

How did you first found out about affiliate marketing?

At first, it was quite blurry as I don’t understand it very well. But, after the ACCESSTRADE team met me and explained to me in detail, I could easily handle it.

Were you worried that it might be a scam?

Definitely, at first. I was wondering whether is it possible for such a good platform and to earn side income so easily. But, after I tried it, I found out that it is true. Now, I believe if I put more effort into affiliate marketing, it can become my main source of income in the future.

Great, I can use the money I earn through affiliate marketing to buy what I need.

What does your regular day look like?

I’m more of a lifestyle and casual person. I am an outgoing and talkative person. I like to meet new people and understand different cultures. So, I hang out everyday and try out something new to make sure I am learning every day and not wasting my time.  

How is affiliate marketing helping you in terms of finance and career?

Well, it’s cool overall. But, it’s not much of a help right now as my daily expenses are very high.

Do you see yourself doing affiliate marketing in the long run or is it a short stint?

Long run. This is a good platform.

How do you create content to promote the products?

Well, this is a good question. I will look out for inspiration on Pinterest, Instagram, or any other platform. Only if I consume the right content, I can create more high-quality content. You must have input to create an output. Also, make sure you bring out the right vibes when you are filming a product because vibes do matter. 

What do you think is the key to be a successful affiliate marketer?

Create solid content. If you want to have more income from affiliate marketing, you must create quality content. Only then, people will notice and engage. Write out the message clearly and concisely. Make sure you deliver the message straight to the consumers or your followers.

What were the challenges you faced when you first joined affiliate marketing?

I was not sure about how things work. I was worried if people will use my link or if will they think that it is a scam. 

What are the new challenges you are facing now?

I am not so sure how the system works, especially about the conversions and clicks. I need to figure it out.
